Call for Nominations
Nominations are now open for seats on the MVMA Board of Directors. Consider nominating yourself or a colleague. Seats for Districts 10, 14, and 15 are open. See the current district map here. Your district is based on your address of record, i.e. where you get mail from MVMA. Any member in good standing may nominate any other member in good standing from one of the three districts with open seats. You will need the following information: who is doing the nominating, who is being nominated, background on the nominee, and the district.
About the Process
Once nominations close on October 17th, the Leadership Development Committee will review all nominations and determine eligibility and suitability of each candidate. If more than 1 candidate is approved by the LDC, the district will have the opportunity to vote for their representative. If only 1 candidate is approved, that person automatically gets seated.
About the Board of Directors
As a 501(c)6 professional association, MVMA is governed by a Board of Directors, some appointed, some elected by members. There are currently 15 district representative positions; 4 at-large positions (currently representing equine, food, lab, and MSU; 5 officers; 1 AVMA delegate; and 1 AVMA alternate delegate. Four districts share a representative, leading to a total of 22 members of the Board. All Board Members work for the overall good of MVMA and the profession.
