ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Jamie A. Berning DVM, DAVDC
Dr. Jamie Berning is a Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College. Originally from northwest Ohio, she is a 2011 graduate from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing veterinary school she relocated to southeast Michigan and worked as a small animal general practice veterinarian. Realizing her love for dentistry and oral surgery, she began working with veterinary dentists in 2013 which quickly led to a residency. She started her own mobile practice based out of Columbus, Ohio in 2017 and opened a stand-alone dental specialty hospital in Columbus in 2021.
She has completed clinical hours with oral surgeons, periodontists, and a dental radiologist on the human-side, and enjoys comparative dentistry. Dr. Berning published an original research project using cone-beam CT, an advanced diagnostic imaging modality used commonly in human dentistry, to describe the three-dimensional relationship of mandibular molar teeth with the mandibular canal. She has an interest in cone-beam CT and utilizes this 3D imaging on every patient at her practice. Dr. Berning is also passionate about zoo and wildlife dentistry and currently serves as a dental consultant for multiple zoos across the country.
She is in the process of launching Animal Dentistry Online, an online veterinary dentistry education platform for veterinarians, technicians, vet teams, and zoo teams.
