In July 2007, Dr. James Cook of Kentucky will finish his term as AVMA Executive Board Member for District V.  This position represents Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. In 2007, it is Michigan’s “turn” to submit their candidate for the next term, and in February, AVMA members will have the opportunity to vote for the next AVMA Executive Board Member. I am Dr. Janver Krehbiel and I believe my experience gives me a unique perspective of our profession.

I have 44 years of diverse experience in the profession including private practice, military service as a veterinarian, and experience in academe as a clinician, pathologist, and administrator. These roles and serving on several national committees and organizations have provided a broadened perspective of veterinary medicine.

Of particular importance to me personally, as well as the potential role of AVMA Executive Board Representative, is my experience on the MVMA Board and as President of our state association. This opportunity provides excellent background and familiarity with organized veterinary medicine at the state level, which is important in representing not only MVMA, but the multiple states within District V.

My involvement with veterinary medicine at the local, state, and national levels has focused on doing what is in the best interest of the profession and the animals and people we serve. It is an exciting opportunity to continue to contribute to my profession and confront the issues that impact veterinary medicine.
