 Veterinary Response to
Hurricane Katrina

Although the veterinary professionals of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association are geographically removed from this disaster, we are emotionally and professionally committed to assisting the human and animal victims of this terrible tragedy.

The links on this page will provide current information and update you on the efforts of the veterinary profession.

The MVMA Public Health Committee would like to remind members that animals from the hurricane disaster may be arriving in your area.  We encourage you to donate your time and resources to address animal and public health issues related to this disaster.  You may contact MVMA at mvma@michvma.org to volunteer to house and care for pets who arrive with refugees.  In the future, please consider getting involved at your local level with emergency groups to be certain that animal health issues are included in emergency and disaster planning.
