Michigan Veterinary Medical Association
MICHIGAN ANIMAL HEALTH FOUNDATION

The Michigan Animal Health Foundation is a charitable trust, founded in 1969 by the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA), to give members and their clients an opportunity to support, through tax exempt contributions, worthy causes related to animal health.  The Foundation was created in hopes that those who love animals will have an opportunity to offer monetary support for critical research that benefits the health and welfare of animals.  Over the years, the Foundation has been involved in a wide array of research projects, from feline lower urinary tract disease to anterior segment dysgenesis in Rocky Mountain Horses to anesthetic potency of nitrous oxide in dogs.

The Foundation is governed by a board of trustees that includes a diverse group of veterinarians and four public members.  The Trustees work together to determine how the grant money is allocated.

The Foundation also serves as the contributory vehicle to recognize deceased members on the MVMA Memorial Plaque.  Friends and colleagues may make contributions in memory of deceased members.  When contributions reach $500, the member's name is engraved on the plaque, which is proudly displayed in the MVMA office.  The inscription on the plaque reads as follows:

THE MVMA MEMORIAL PLAQUE
As a tribute to a lifetime devoted to the profession
of veterinary medicine, these deceased members of the
Michigan Veterinary Medical Association
have been remembered by family, colleagues and friends
with contributions to the
Michigan
Animal Health Foundation
dedicated to the health of animals.
